Pittsburgh Accepting Applications for City Cuts 2025
Applications will be accepted THROUGH April 21
The City of Pittsburgh announced the continuation of its City Cuts program in 2025, designed to provide free lawn cutting services to older residents, veterans, and individuals with disabilities who may face challenges maintaining their lawns.
This program helps ensure that our neighbors who lack the means or resources to cut their grass receive support throughout the summer and early fall months.
"The City Cuts program is a testament to our commitment to supporting every Pittsburgher, especially our older residents, veterans, and those living with disabilities," said Mayor Ed Gainey. "This service is a small but meaningful way to help our neighbors maintain their homes with dignity and ease. We’re proud to offer this support and ensure that no one is left behind in our efforts to make Pittsburgh a welcoming and inclusive place for all."
City Cuts service will be offered twice a month starting in May, weather permitting, and will continue from summer through mid-fall. This program aims to assist residents who meet certain qualifications and lack the social or financial means to maintain their lawns. To be eligible, applicants must:
Reside within the City of Pittsburgh limits
Own the property or be responsible for the grass cutting of the property
Have difficulty cutting their own lawn due to age, disability, or financial hardship
Additionally, applicants must meet one or more of the following criteria:
Be 62 years of age or older
Be a veteran
Have a disability that prevents them from cutting grass
Be at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Guideline
Limited Service & First-Come, First-Served Basis
Please note that service availability is limited, and applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage eligible individuals to apply early to secure a spot for the 2025 season. The application deadline is Monday, April 21st.
Interested residents can apply for the City Cuts program or learn more by visiting the City’s website and searching under the 'Request City Cuts Service' section, or by contacting the City’s 3-1-1.
