Scouts Recycle 25 Morningside Trees
Scouts in Pittsburgh collected over 300 Christmas trees for recycling on Sunday, January 8. Thirty-seven kids participated in the city-wide collection.
A team of three Girl Scouts collected 35 trees in Morningside, Stanton Heights, and Upper Lawrenceville - 25 of which were from Morningside.
The Scouts hope to increase their collection totals next Christmas. This effort not only keeps trees out of the landfill, but it helps to fund important activities for Girl Scouts and BSA Scouts in Pittsburgh.
Some of the trees collected were dropped off at Garfield Community Farm to feed the goats. The remaining trees will be shredded into mulch for local parks and home gardens.
